Rotary screw compressors are great in automotive shops and collision repair facilities, however, it pays to do some homework upfront to ensure the application makes sense. At a minimum, have H&K come out to your facility and check the following before buying a rotary screw machine.
Make sure it??s the right size ?? A walk-through assessment or air audit of your shop is the best way to tell what size rotary machine you need.
Ensure your demand profile is appropriate ?? This means ensuring that air demand is consistent enough to warrant a rotary machine. Again, a walk-through assessment is a great way to determine this but engaging a local air expert is a good backup.
And finally, once you buy the machine, make sure that it??s installed and maintained per the operator manual by a qualified rotary screw service center

If you are looking for the most reliable and the quietest air compressor in the world, then take a look at the Curtis NXB series rotary screw air compressors. They have a whole line of compressors from 5HP to 250HP depending on your needs. Remember, before buying an air compressor, make sure that it is right for your applications. Too big of a compressor is just as bad as too little of a compressor. Check the CFM requirements of your facility and compare it to the CFM capabilities of your new Curtis NXB series compressor.

Pressure switches consist of a switch mechanism that is connected to a bellow or diaphragm that reacts to system pressure. They are selected by operating range and differential. Operating range is the pressure limits in which the switch will work. Differential is the difference between the cut-in and cut-out pressures. Pressure switch settings, common to many air compressors, are set for a range of 40 to 250 PSI and an adjustable differential of 35 to 60 PSI. This means that the lowest pressure that the switch can be set to close at is 40 PSI, and the highest pressure it can be set to open at is 250 PSI. The differential that is actually available to use varies with the pressure range you??re actually working in.

Air-compressor oil is usually a synthetic oil that does not contain detergents commonly found in motor oil. Air-compressor oil is manufactured specifically for use in lubricating the ball bearings inside a compressor and is generally the recommended choice by manufacturers of air compressors. A synthetic oil also helps reduce carbon deposits within the compressor.

WHAT IS A PRESSURE SWITCH?

Â
A pressure switch is a device that senses changes in fluid pressure and responds in a specified way. An actuated pressure switch makes or disrupts electrical contact in order to either trigger an alarm or switch something on or off. Switches are programmed to activate at certain pressure points, and may be designed to make contact either on pressure rise or on pressure fall.

Using the right air compressor oil for your compressor is very important. This is true for both rotary screw air compressors and reciprocating compressors. You can’t just use your cars oil or hydraulic oil!!!!! Compressor oil has a few important functions:
• It removes heat from the compression
• It works as a sealing to prevent air leakage.
• It lubricates all moving parts
• It’s used to cool important parts of the compressor element.
Air compressor oil is specifically designed to do the above jobs well. If you would use oil from your car, your compressor WILL DIE!!
Compressors (and the oil) can get very hot.. normal maximum outlet temperature of a rotary screw compressor element is set at 120 degrees Celsius (if it gets hotter than this, your screw compressor will shut down).
